On arrival, interns undergo a one-week orientation to get acquainted with the various activities at all workstations. Interns have the opportunity to work either in Administration or in the Core Labs. Our interns don’t learn by watching, they learn by getting involved in hands-on training in various activities in their designated roles. 

Interns are responsible for the biorepository of samples, sample analysis, and results management. They are trained in molecular techniques such as PCR and restriction-enzyme digest, working under the good supervision of a Core Lab Leader. Interns are also given the opportunity to be innovative through partaking in laboratory protocols development, optimization, and standardization.

Administrative interns provide day to day administrative support to staff and faculty of the Centre as well as assist with research and publications. Aside from professional skill acquisition, they are also granted the opportunity to network through community medical outreach and seminars.
