The West African Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC) under the Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) impact project, has two (2) milestones under the Disbursement linked Indicator 4.3 (DLI 4.3): Quality of Education and Research – Infrastructure; and one (1) milestone under DLI 7.5: Institutional Impact - Internet Expansion. The milestones under 4.3 constitute the purchase and installation of an Advanced Research and Genetics Training Equipment and the construction of the WAGMC Building complex to be achieved before the end of the project. Under 7.5 milestone 4, WAGMC was tasked with 100% expansion of broadband plus WiFi coverage on both the Legon and Korle Bu campuses of the University of Ghana.
Milestone 2: DLI 4.3.2: New WAGMC Building Complex
The WAGMC Building Complex will house various functional rooms including classrooms, seminar rooms, a boardroom, laboratories, cold room, vivarium, collaboration room, break room, canteen/cafeteria, washrooms, student common room, faculty common room and offices. The building complex will also showcase a genetic themed park at the forecourt as part of the university’s green project.
