
The University of Ghana has awarded Professor Solomon Fiifi Ofori-Acquah the Meritorious Service Award for his outstanding contributions to genomics research, institutional development, and community engagement.
The award was presented on 19 December 2025 at the University’s End-of-Year Party hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.
Professor Ofori-Acquah’s visionary leadership, particularly in establishing the West African Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC), has strengthened biomedical research, fostered interdisciplinary collaboration, and advanced the application of genomic science to address regional health challenges.
Through his scholarship, resource mobilization, and community-focused initiatives, he continues to exemplify the University of Ghana’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact.
